Pansexual porn is pornography that includes all sexualities and genders. Given that pansexuality is defined as being attracted to someone regardless of sexuality or gender, it makes sense that pansexual porn would be just as open minded and open-hearted.
You can categorize porn in a few ways. One way is to label it according to who is in the porn. This can involve a third person describing the performer according to their gender, what they look like or how old they are, among other things. Unfortunately a lot of mainstream porn uses negative, sexist or racist labels to categories the people in porn. Alternatively you can use the performer’s own self-described identity. This is usually a more positive way of describing the performer.
Another way to label porn is to describe what kind of sex they’re having; whether it’s heterosexual or homosexual, the positions used, the locations where the sex occurs, or how many people are involved.
The Pansexual Gaze
A third, more complex way to label porn is to think about who made the porn, who the intended audience of the porn might be, and who is actually watching it. This way of categorizing porn makes use of the theory of “the gaze“.
The producer of the porn may use filmmaking techniques, dialogue, camera angles and point of view to create a particular vision; this vision may reflect their own identity or sexuality, or it may embody their biases and assumptions. That is the filmmaker’s “gaze”. The creator of that porn may also have had a specific audience in mind when making the porn. The language used to speak to the audience and describe the work often gives this away. But the intended audience may or may not be the people who actually watch it. And how the actual audience views and interacts with the porn may be different to the original intent of the film. The audience brings their own “gaze” to the process.
While it’s not perfect, approaching porn via the “gaze” method can be a more nuanced way of finding porn that is better suited to your tastes. Taking the director’s and performer’s intent into account can make a difference to how much you enjoy something.
Pansexual Porn Is What You Make It
That said…
“Pansexual” uses the Latin prefix “pan” which means “every, all, whole, all-inclusive. Pansexual porn, then, may well be defined by all of these categorizations. The porn may feature performers who identify as pansexual; they may also identify in any other way. The porn performer may be labelled according to gender, sexuality, appearance or age. The porn may feature sex acts of all kinds: heterosexual, homosexual and everything in between. It may include kink, BDSM, threesomes, romance, vanilla sex, sex education or any kind of erotic content. The porn may be made by directors and performers who identify as pansexual, queer, trans, gender-neutral or any way. And the content may be aimed specifically at queer audiences, straight audiences or whoever.
This site makes no assumptions about who is watching the porn here. It aims to offer a variety of content that may appeal to anyone. Admittedly, the type of person who visits a site called “Pansexual Porn” will probably be more inclined to identify as queer, pansexual or bisexual but everyone is welcome. Hopefully you’ll find something here that interests and arouses you.
We’ve even been very open with the concept of “porn”. This site includes non-explicit short films and documentaries which discuss sex, sexuality and gender in various ways. Just as pansexuality expands the borders of sex and goes beyond labels, so too should we move beyond narrow ideas of what is and isn’t porn.
And of course it goes without saying that we believe that visual expressions of human sexuality (“porn”) is a perfectly legitimate form of art that helps us to understand our own humanity.
